My Plan for Agriculture

I learned the value of agriculture from my great-grandparents, Maurice and Beatrice Baldwick, who farmed on the 13th Concession of Vespra (now Springwater). As a primarily agricultural township Springwater's success depends on the success of our farms.
To support agriculture, I would:

• Take action on rural infrastructure, including ditching, road improvements, and internet services

• Investigate the municipal drain maintenance requested by farmers

• Rezone farm gate sales locations as agricultural to reduce their tax rate

• Increase opportunities for agri-tourism, which will add more revenue sources for farms and build the local economy

• Support all agricultural operations, including apiaries & maple syrup farms

• Support farmers who want to manage their land for agricultural purposes, like with on-farm units for employees

• Create an open database of farms that sell products to the public, adding more local options for residents
